Kenai Fjords National Park is a United States National Park established in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. The park covers an area of approximately 1,760 sq mi (4,600 km2) on the Kenai Peninsula in southcentral Alaska, near the town of Seward. The park contains the Harding Icefield, one of the largest ice fields in the United States. The park is named for the numerous fjords carved by glaciers moving down the mountains from the ice field. The field is the source of at least 38 glaciers, the largest of which is Bear Glacier. The park can be reached from Seward, 130 mi (210 km) south of Anchorage at the southern terminus of the Seward Highway. It is only one of three national parks in Alaska that can be reached by road, via the Exit Glacier Nature Center. A network of trails from the Nature Center provide access to the glacier, and the 7.4-mile.

This hike to Exit Glacier was a part of the Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel) program Alaska's National Parks: From the Mountains to the Sea. We were housed in Moose Pass, Alaska. In the morning we visited the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. In the afternoon we made this easy hike. Exit Glacier is one of many glaciers extending down from the Harding Ice Field. It was a short hike but it gave...
Incredible hike to harding icefield from which a lot of icebergs of the
Kenai Peninsula start. Even in a horrible day (it was raining the whole
day) it is amazing. Wear appropriate clothes and shoes and be prepared
for cold up there. We went there mid August and there was some snow
left...
It is 15 km hike with 1000 m elevation, so it is not for everyone..
This was the second hike we did on our recent 2 week trip to Alaska. A great day-hike, which took about 5-6 hours to complete. It provided fantastic views of the Exit Glacier as we hiked upwards, and there was a warning from fellow hikers of black bears on the trail that day, although we didnt come across them.A strenuous hike, but its worth it for views of the Harding ice-Field which...
We arrived into Seward around 12 noon on the 5th, looked up at Mount marathon and said, yeh we'l have a go at that! There is an annual race up and down this mountain held in Seward every year, and we decided to hike up the easier slope and then ran down the scree slope which was great fun! Great views of Seward below as you hike. Scree run was an adrenalin...
Home in the Netherlands, I had already seen this trip. He wasmore than worth it to walk. In the morning we go from our B & B by car up to the visitorscenter. We must make a choice, or the top or to the foot of the glacier. We go to the top. The view there should be great and the trip as such awesome to walk.In the early climb through the forest and later, head of the forestand get on the open plain. Quite often we let the ibex and marmots to also see. Fortunately, no bears. It is long and hard up, especially if snow on the path. Above it is mighty nice to see. The image on more than 30 glaciers is beautiful. I would be able to stand all day. I also know that I never get something like...
