From Home via Kirtipur up the Champadevi ridge, down to Pharping, across the Bagmati to Bungamati

This is about as close as it gets for those who want to make altitude meters starting from Patan. I only had 2,5 hours and took a bus back from Bungamati to avoid busy rush hour roads in the dark. An earlier start would allow for this 19k A to B run to become a 27-28k circuit. I am not yet very familiar with the Champadevi area and am still in the process...

Update 6 November 2010Did a shorter version of this run with Richard, Peter and Kimmo (once we hit the Bagmati, we followed it a bit North, crossed it by the next suspension bridge and took the straight brick kiln route to Bungamati). New: the ridge stone trail to Champadevi is finished!Update 6 June 2010For Moire's story of this run:http://moireosullivan.wordpress.com/2010/05/29/hindus-and-buddists-praying-side-by-side/Update 15 May 2010Did the run again, this time with Moire. Started with a breakfast...
This is a very nice mountain bike route of about 6 hours, with two tea-house stops, one @ 2 hours and one @ 4 hours into the route. Definitely recommended!Just after Chapagaon, at the suspension bridge, take the little trail following the canal. This is some nice single track (along side a steep vertical drop) which takes you until Tikabhairab where you cross the bridge to go South-west and start with a...

Another day of bandh - used for further exploration of the Lele area. We (Narayan, Peter and I) managed to find the trail up Pulchowki from the Southwest. An absolutely fabulous ridge trail, tiring, but great views, weird forest, a great find and as far as I know never walked by non-locals. Peter and I cycled to Narayan's house, had a cuppa and set off towards Badikhel on road (no traffic anyway); from...
This trip two friends wanted to check out the progress on the new road being built which goes through the Bagmati gorge, South of Pharping. It's being made by the Nepali army and is supposed to become a 4 to 6 lane highway, from the Kathmandu ringroad, going to the Terai region. All the green you see on the Google satellite picture near the way point, is no more, because a considerable chunk of...
