Popular Trips in Joffre Lakes Provincial Park
Lorena and I hiked in to Joffre Lakes with Tyler and Lisa. A very cool out and back hike with beautiful scenery, especially with the sun out. Batteries died on GPS on way out so the track ends.
Great weather... apparently there was snow at the beginning of the week so we picked a great weekend to camp up there. Met a mountaineering guide who had summited 3 nearby peaks since Tuesday. Whiskey Jacks were out in full force :)
Tracks from two trips up Chief Pascall and the slide path Equinox.

Well, the parking lot at Joffre Lakes Provincial Park was full, but our hike was grand, despite the many other visitors on this Labour Day weekend ... The GPS track reflects the "out" leg of our out-and-back hike.
With renewed confidence in stability we decided to head for open faces. We were thinking of heading to something N facing but its not too often that sun-exposed faces retain good snow so we decided to wander up to Cayoosh to take a look at some of the terrain. For a variety of reasons we ended up doing laps on the East Glacier. Wonderful uncharacteristically light snow. With clouds all around us...
Climbed the NE Spur of Mt. Matier Via Anniversary glacier.
