Popular Trips in Indian Peaks Wilderness
A great Snowshoing trip up to Brainard Lake. In the winter, the gate is closed due to snowfall which allows for a great adventure up to the lake on foot. The scenery surrounding the lkae is outstanding.
What St Vrain Mountain (12,162') fails to offer the hiker in technical climbing, more than rewards you in views of the Continental Divide, Longs Peak, Wild Basin, The Indian Peaks, and the plains.  St Vrain is an oft overlooked experience by tourist. The St Vrain trail is situated in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, and the summit is on the RMNP boundary line. The summer trailhead (TH) is located about 1-1/2 miles south of Allenspark,...
Mt. Audubon's elevation ranks 458 out of 583 13ers in Colorado, not outstanding. But the views along the trail to the summit are wonderful. You'll be hiking above treeline for most of the trip, so your views along the trail will be unobstructed. Looking W'ly from Audubon's summit, , you'll see the Continental Divide and Indian Peaks' landmarks such as Paiute Peak, Mt Toll, Pawnee Peak, and Apache Peak. Looking 11 mi.s to...

It’s pleasant to return and have the full experience to reveal both the miracle and miserliness of memory. The last descent...
Every year some friends of mine get together and do a backpacking trip. This year we went to Lake Watanga in the Indian Peaks wilderness. We had a great trip and spent 3 nights up at the lake. The weather was pretty touch and go most the trip and we got sun, rain, hail and a freeze. Overall the trip was great though and the area beautiful. We were able to do...
Liz, Behzad and I hiked to the top of Mt. Audubon.
My goal was to tag "Notabon", which was neglected in my previous 2 Audubon summits. Due to group-dynamics, I was fortunate to be able to tag ?Notabon" twicw from the saddle, and summit Audubon again, for extra credit.Weather was great, and views awesome...as usual. Great day to be above treeline.
Trail run that followed the Devil's Thumb, High Lonesome, and King Lake trails counter clockwise from Hessie trailhead.
