James, Boo and I hiked up Heather Ridge and made several sweet turns down Moonlight Bowl. Super trip. Perfect snow at the upper elevations. Lots of whoomp...whomph... all around but nothing sliding anywhere. Just go be sure though, We stayed in relatively safe terrain and enjoyed some good conditions. Good snow at the higher elevations. 2+feet over a pretty solid hardpack with another weak layer about 10-12 inches...
Beautiful lake. Great hike on a hot day - the trail is in the forest.
This was the first EveryTrail hike I recorded on my iphone. I started tracking on the decent. Snowshoed with some friends up to Lanham Lake in the North Cascades. Nice easy 1.5 mile hike up to lake. 3 Miles round trip. Great for beginner snowshoers. 1'-2' feet of snow on the trail on 2/26/10.
This is a very popular hike on the mountain loop highway outside of Granite Falls Wa. Decided to try it out and found a gem of a lake. This area was very photogenic with various terrain and landscapes to view. The hike takes you up to Goat Lake which guides you along a trail that follows elliot creek.
