I hiked to Rainbow Falls on the west side of in Gorges State Park in Transylvania County, North Carolina. Note I only hiked to Rainbow Falls; there area  couple more waterfalls if you stay on the same trail. Hike writeup to come at Two-Heel Drive

the foothills trail section and canebrake trail are difficult. the trail on here and picture placement is an approximate - get the map. secret ninja cliffside camping spot up the river off the lake was nice - like a private pool ;p.

On Saturday, we woke up, ate breakfast, and left camp to head for Gorges State Park.  We parked at the end and headed down the Rainbow Falls Trail.  Before reaching the namesake waterfall, we took a spur trail to the left leading down to the Horsepasture River and stopped to see Stairway Falls.  Due to the high temperatures and low rainfall, this waterfall wasn't as heavy as normal as so it didn't...

A hike along the Horsepasture river from the Gorges State Park / Rainbow Falls trailhead to Rainbow, Turtleback, and Drift falls.  The route is then reversed back to Turtleback, Rainbow, and Stairway falls.  The trail is very faint at this point so the route skips Sidepocket falls and bushwhacks uphill to a forest road and follows a gravel road and trail to the top of Windy Falls.  The gravel road and trail lead back to the...
