Went hiking in Golden Gate Canyon State Park with the family, which includes our border collie and 2-year-old.  We were planning to take Mule Deer Trail all the way to Frazer Meadow to get to the same places we hiked to via Horseshoe Trail, but decided that we'd gone about far enough and stopped at the Aspen Meadow campgrounds for lunch and then a quick jaunt down to Dude's Fishing Hole.

If you've only got a few hours for a quick outing, this one's for you.  it takes a little while to head up from Denver, but not too long.  Don't forget your $7 for a day pass (boo).  There's plenty of shade over most of the trail.  You get up over 9000 ft, so you have quite a view to the SW and you can see down into the city from some...

Hiked with my 7 & 11 year olds.  Stayed at the Greenfield Meadow backcountry site.  Campsites are nice and private.  Spring is fairly close by.

I like hiking for free better, but I'll drop the dough to get in and enjoy the park. It's a great place.

Lots of bikers, some of the trails alternate days for bikers and hikers on an odd/even system.
