The last time I hiked this trail was probably 25 years ago.  This time I went with the family (including our 2-year-old), and we made something of a round trip of it by going up Horseshoe, cutting right to survey the various campsites in Greenfield Meadow, then left on Mule Deer trail to cut back to Horseshoe for the return.  I took multiple pictures of many of the campsites so campers can...

If you've only got a few hours for a quick outing, this one's for you.  it takes a little while to head up from Denver, but not too long.  Don't forget your $7 for a day pass (boo).  There's plenty of shade over most of the trail.  You get up over 9000 ft, so you have quite a view to the SW and you can see down into the city from some...

I began my hike at Panorama Point, and it's possibly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Panorama Point is famous for its views of 100 miles of the Continental Divide. 100 miles of view. Yes. You read that correctly. There's a video of what the view looks like on a far less snowy day than the one I was there. The drive into GGCSP is worth it for this view alone. Things...

Went hiking in Golden Gate Canyon State Park with the family, which includes our border collie and 2-year-old.  We were planning to take Mule Deer Trail all the way to Frazer Meadow to get to the same places we hiked to via Horseshoe Trail, but decided that we'd gone about far enough and stopped at the Aspen Meadow campgrounds for lunch and then a quick jaunt down to Dude's Fishing Hole.

Up and down Black Bear Trail with a little diversion at the end to check out the backcountry campsites. After two knee surgeries (and maybe more required, but hopefully not) I'm trying to get back into hiking.

Very beautiful trail and scenery. The only bad part about this trip was a race that happened to be going through the trail. I must have passed 300 people who were going down while I was going up. Without that the trail is awesome though. There is one small section that is steep and rocky, just as a warning.

A great spot for all levels with close accessibility to the Denver metro area. I definitely recommend this area! Enjoy

I like hiking for free better, but I'll drop the dough to get in and enjoy the park. It's a great place.

Lots of bikers, some of the trails alternate days for bikers and hikers on an odd/even system.
