Hiked up to the summit on Saturday Aug. 21,2010. This hike is very challenging. It has a long approach and a big surprise toward the summit. Most of the hiking books label this as a class 2/3 scramble. It definitely has this. What was not mentioned, is that the scramble takes a while to accomplish. July 3, 2011. Arrived at the Trailhead at 9:00 AM and began hike at 9:10 AM. We arrived at the lake at 11:10 AM. On the way we saw 3 deer on the trail, crossed several creeks, and had nice views of Garland Peak and Devils Smoke Stack. We took a few pictures and ate lunch before heading back. Hiked Mt. Pugh with Greg, David, and Yuan. The terrain above Stujack Pass is great. There are some steep sections but the trail is well defined and the exposure never gets scary.
