Frontenac Park is located north of
Kingston (at the eastern most tip of the Great Lakes) on a southern arm of the
Canadian Shield. The park is run by the
Ontario Government, but unlike most provincial parks - Frontenac is a
semi-wilderness area. It features
granite outcrops, vast wetlands and mixed forests, plants, and wildlife
including: deer, black bear, wolf, coyote, fox, beaver, mink, porcupine, turtle, osprey, kingfisher
and is also home to the black ratsnake.

Thanksgiving day in Frontenac Provincial Park. This was the Arkon Lake loop and part of the Big Salmon Lake loop. Just gorgeous!
A fantastic canoe trip in Frontenac Park. Weather was beautiful, with very few bugs, the portages are excellent and clearly marked, there is no white water, and there was very little wind. The campsites are nice, although they are in clusters, and you are very close to your neighbours, which is unfortunate for a backcountry campsite. Campsite A at site 13 was the best choice, isolated from the others. We stayed on...
