These are the only tin mines in the United States. The trail is pretty well maintained and is ranked as an easy trail but does get moderately difficult the last leg up to the north mine. You can find more information here: http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/FMSPTinMines_2320.asp
One of the more difficult hikes I’ve
encountered since the mountains of Ruidoso. Though we were well protected against the sun,
the heat still managed to leave its mark. This, coupled with the loose rocks one is
constantly walking over and of course the slope, make me rate this hike as
difficult. We ran into at least two
groups that did not manage to make it all the way to the top. If you do make it,...
This is a fairly conditioning climb over Mundy`s gap.....But the downhill on the west side it soooo rewarding. Worst case....just get off the bike and walk. You see more of nature that way....Enjoy.Erling
Good spring hike. Somewhat picturesque
in the high area but otherwise bland. I
rate this trail moderate due to the loose rock.
This is one part of the Redd road trails system. You park at the end of Redd road. Ant the trail begins where the road stops. You go up along the two watertanks and then which ever direction you please.
This is just to show how fast one can get down. It'll still take about 1.5 hours with only three breaks along the way for water. I've marked the best spots to stop an rest with a picture.
This is the GPS data from the 2011 Coyote Classic in El Paso, Texas. I didn't ride it, uploaded so I can :)
