I chained together a series of small loops in the Western Section of Eno River State Park, northwest of Durham, North Carolina.This is a great park for hiking -- lots of trails along creeks and the Eno River. Scenic even after the leaves have fallen; I imagine it's spectacular at peak season, but also pretty crowded. Trip write-up at Two-Heel Drive.
Beth, Reilly, Griffin and I took a very nice hike Saturday to the Eno Rock Quarry. It was a very nice hike for a 3 year old and 4 month old and the quarry water was crystal clear.

This section of the Mountains to Sea trail just opened in 2010, winding through the pine-mixed hardwood forests of the Eno River State Park. This section offers a mix of flood plain and bluffs, a bit of history, and surprising quiet. The trail surface is simple, and much of this stretch still lacks trail markers.
