This was a one-day, end-to-end hike on the Crest Trail in the White Mountain Wilderness near Ruidoso, NM.Highs: Many panoramic views from the crest.Lows: Rained for the last three hours! Most of the attached photos record the location of trail junctions, water sources, and good tent sites for future. overnight trips.
These are the only tin mines in the United States. The trail is pretty well maintained and is ranked as an easy trail but does get moderately difficult the last leg up to the north mine. You can find more information here: http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/FMSPTinMines_2320.asp
One of the more difficult hikes I’ve
encountered since the mountains of Ruidoso. Though we were well protected against the sun,
the heat still managed to leave its mark. This, coupled with the loose rocks one is
constantly walking over and of course the slope, make me rate this hike as
difficult. We ran into at least two
groups that did not manage to make it all the way to the top. If you do make it,...
This is a fairly conditioning climb over Mundy`s gap.....But the downhill on the west side it soooo rewarding. Worst case....just get off the bike and walk. You see more of nature that way....Enjoy.Erling
The 22nd Annual Bataan Memorial Death March & Marathon. This was my first marathon hike and participated with my friend and old college roommate Mike Abrams. See more details about the even online here: http://www.bataanmarch.com
Good spring hike. Somewhat picturesque
in the high area but otherwise bland. I
rate this trail moderate due to the loose rock.
