This trip is based on the final 2 hikes of the 2011 Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park challenge - Buckeye and Towpath Trails From Boston to Jaite - From the Boston Store Visitor Center parking lot, follow Boston Mills Road west, cross Riverview Road, and follow the Buckeye Trail sign on your left. Climb the steep hill marked with the blue blazes of the Buckeye Trail. Note that two blue blazes on...

This trip is based on 3 hikes from the Cuyahoga Challenge 2011: Boston Run Trail, Haskell Run Trail, and Ledges Trail...these can all be done together via the connector trails between them. I parked in the lot on the south side of 303 across from the Happy Days Lodge did the Boston Run first, then half of the Haskell on the way to Ledges, then completed Haskell on the return trip to...

The second run of the Cuyahoga in wildwater boats with Cliff. With recent rain, it was running roughly 400 cfs, which mostly provided enough padding for our delicate boats.

Tinker's Creek is the best whitewater in Ohio, bar none. It's got wild technical whitewater, followed by some great surfing. And it's got Tinker's Falls and The Tunnel!, the latter of which is like nothing I've seen on any other river or creek anywhere. It's full of strainers and other pinning spots, so bring your "A" Game especially at higher water.Wanna read a story about Tinker's, with more photos? Cycling - Cuyahoga Valley NP

Cycling  -  Metropolitan Cleveland, Ohio, has many green areas to enjoy. One of these is the Cuyhaoga Valley National Park which lies around the homonym river. In addition to a good number of walking trails through the woods, the Towpath was once used to move boats up stream the Ohio and Erie Canals. Partly paved, mostly gravel, this is a favorite for cyclists and this track covers a portion of it. From...

Skied Boston Run Trail and then Haskell Run Trail. You can see the CVNP map of the area by clicking here. There were plenty of runners that morning, but nobody got in anybody's way and everyone got along fine.I got a track of the trails by tracing over a scan of the CVNP map; then, when I skied, I got the data at the source. With a cloudy day and some terrain,...

Walking - Brandywine Falls, Ohio

Walking  -  Brandywine Falls. Cuyahoga Valley Naional Park lies around the homonym river in the Cleveland metro area. One of the tributaries, the Branwywine Creek, has carved a gorge after an 18-meter drop. This isn't an extraordinary waterfall but worth a visit while taking a short hike on one of the numerous trails around the park, or just the one-minute walk from the parking lot. Nice when frozen.

Great ride with great friends.  It was a Mark to the power of 3 trip.   Hmm, I like the power of 3 theme.  It was a charming ride.  Poured buckets of rain on us just as we were set to begin.  We waited it out and set out in the mud.  The pace was nice (We actually averaged 13 mph, despite what the gps info above says.  I think I need...
