Winter hike at Crowder's Mountain State Park, west of Charlotte, N.C. Trip write-up at Two-Heel Drive
Instead of doing the Pinnacle Trail - which is done by most - I chose to take the Crowder's Trail to the Rocktop Trail, which follows a ridgeline across Crowder's Mountain. There is rock scrambling involved. The Rocktop trail goes to the summit of Tower Hill and then to the Crowder's Mountain Overlook. I then went down the back on the Backside Trail, which rejoined the Crowder's Trail which I followed back...
My only non-lazy friend and I took his dog out to the Kings Pinnacle trail at Crowders mountain today. Its a short trail, only 1.7 miles each way (my gps didnt get all the data), but I like it. Also, its only 30 minutes from Charlotte. This is only our track data for the hike back down the trail, as my GPS couldnt get a signal when we first got there.
Sam and I hiked up to Kings Pinnacle while we were in the area to see Peter play in BandBEAT 2009. It was PACKED!
