Cotswolds Road Biking Trips
Having got up at 4.30 to print off maps for Francis, the undervalued Derek was somewhat tired when we all congregated at Chez Francois for the 10.15 meet. There were 16 in all, who in order of importance were, Doreen, Christine, Debs, Mary, Doreen, Louis, myself, Gareth, Tony, Ian, Mike, Doreen, Adrian, Tim, Tim’s friend, Dave, Liam and Francis.
Ian was on his new Versace bike, looking as fashionable as ever, Liam was...
As the Garmin GPS ran out of charge when we stopped at Lechlade the last leg of our ride isn't shown on the map. I'm afraid you'll have to add the return North to Burford. The consensus was a round trip of 44 miles. In a feat of superb organised chaos, everyone got round and no one got lost (for too long), although no 2 people took the same route. The young things...
Having arranged by email to meet in the Highwayman car park at 6pm, Ken , Tony and myself prepared for our first evening ride of the year.I was the first to arrive and the last to be ready, little did we realise the evening facing us.
Perhaps the tone for the evening was set when Tony was quizzed by the
arriving landlord as to whether he had sought permission to use the car...
Having repaired to Roylan Bike shop to check out Francis’s
rear brake, he said it was locked on, the 4 of us set off up the ubiquitous
Leckampton. Another fantastic Friday afternoon spinning (well cycling anyway)
through pleasant Cotswold villages, you can never tire of the scenery,
especially when the sun is shining.
After 25 miles the ascent of Chalford Hill was very welcome
(not), and we lost 2 of our party, or to be precise Francis lost...
Dave brought along young Tom for this trip that started in overcast conditions, but ended in bright sunshine. In a trip marked by its lack of identifying features (although we did did pass Liam on the way up) the 4 of us sped off toward Cirencester pausing only for calls of nature and a picture with the polyanthus and pansies (you\'ll have to work out which is which). Special thanks to Dave...
After meeting up at
Francis place at 9 the entourage rolled onto Bishops Cleeve to register for the
Cotswold Bike Ride. On arriving at the
registration tent, the heavens opened and we were glad to wait 15 minutes in
the freezing cold for Tim or was it Tony. Ian was impeccably turned out in his summer gear,
and seemed surprised he was chilled to the bone, he was
he even more surprised when I warmed him up by...
The person who is usually last turned up late and still
proceeded to adjust their bike, I hate people who are so inconsiderate, but
enough about me. Today’s ride comprised Dave and his son Tom, Francis and his
not son Gareth and myself. I failed to catch Francis going up Leckhampton (he
couldn’t be bothered to stand up) , and Dave passed me at 200 mph, so although I
may have improved since France,
its obviously not that...
