The best way to get to know the Canyonlands is to leave the road behind. This loop is "popular" according to the ranger, but we didn't see one other hiker on trail all day. Stunning views the entire way, and serious terrain.
This was our second backpacking trip in Canyonlands. It was also are last trip for the week. We were all pretty sore, and decided to take it easy on the way in. We camped out in SQ2 campsite, only about 90 minutes from the trail head. The hike in through Squaw Flat was pretty easy compared to everything else we had been through.
