A sunny, pleasant springtime hike at Briones Regional Park from Black Oak Trail to Briones Crest Trail to Table Top Trail (tons of flowers here) and back to the trailhead. There are no high peaks at Briones, but this hike has a lot more climb than you might expect: over 2000 feet of ascent over 7.6 miles. Table Top Trail has some of the best views of Mount Diablo you\'ll ever see on...

Sierra Club trip led by Stan Goodman from the trailhead near Acalanes High School on the Lafayette Ridge trail to Russet Peak.  We had a lunch stop on the peak and then returned on the same route.

I started this trip at the Briones Rd. trailhead. Briones Rd. is a narrow winding road, so be careful on your way up and down.

Took the day off to go on a short hike with my daughter who was on spring break. This is a nice hike, especially this time of year, with a very gradual and slight elevation gain (877 ft.). Start at the Bear Creek Staging Area, then head north on the Abrigo Trail, then head northwest on the single track Santos Trail, then south along Briones Crest to the Deer Creek Trail which...

Nice hike for a foggy day. I peaked above the fog several times, for views of Diablo and the Valley.

Eastern Briones Park Hike

Another beautiful hike by Wilma's group of Wednesday Hikers - this one led by Lois. 26 hikers showed up on a breezy but sunny day to enjoy this loop through the northeastern portion of Briones Park (part of the East Bay Regional Park District). Unlike many trails in the park, this loop was largely shaded and would be enjoyable even on warmer summer days.

Taking a hike with my friends Rene, Royce, and Bobby. The day started out overcast and drizzly, but the clouds burned off fairly quickly and made for a very enjoyable trip. The gps conked out a bit near the end, so not all of my photos may get geotagged.

Briones - Ella's First Real Hike

At two and a half, Ella made it 0.6 miles and 600 vertical feet before asking to be carried.  Awesome job Ella!  Ella probably went double that distance since she was running after the dogs the whole time.

Steve led the Wednesday hiking group on a wonderful loop in Briones Regional Park, followed by a celebration of Stan Goodman's birthday with a great pot luck lunch following the hike.

This was a great hike. We hiked right after the first rain of the season and that triggers a California newt migration. It was cool to see all the newts heading for the lagoons to mate. This hike had some great view of Mount Diablo too. It was also a dog friendly hike.

I hike in Briones a lot. Most of the trails are fire roads, and there is a lot of elevation change. There are abundant wildflowers in the spring, and views of Mt. Diablo and Mt. Tam year round. It is really wet in the winter, with most of the trails too muddy to hike on. I avoid going here in January and February.

I have hiked all of the trails that don't dead end in Briones. The terrain is varied, and its got some great views. There is also abundant wildlife. It's not a great place to go once the rains start coming. The mud is deep, sticky and hard to avoid on most of the trails.
