A great bushwhack through the lowlands of Boxford State Forest. We ended up following deer runs for the most part. Due to the recent warm-up we had a few problems crossing the swamp, but it was only knee-deep.
Kurchian and I are hunting one of the famous Rexrider 98 caches. It will be a three day effort. This is the 2nd leg of the adventure.
Parked at P10 for Return to Cretaceous cache. Hiked in and explored some bushwhacking routes.
This was the thrid and final
trip into the Boxford State Forest to complete Rexrider98's
Witchitai-To multi-cache. Overall, it involved crossing mostly frozen
swamps, and many miles of bushwhacking. What a great time!
I parked at P9, my first time entering Boxwoods from this location. I followed the trail, but made a wrong right turn and had to back-track. Then I made the correct right turn but missed the trail when it took a slight left turn. I went quite a ways, but then bushwhacked back about 0.2 miles to the swamp, and eventually found WTT8. Parked at P9 on N. Liberty St. Headed straight for WTT1. Found it after a bit of searching. Crossed the famous beaver dam and bushwhacked to WTT2 (nearby "lake" was dry). These were the last two waypoints I needed to solve the coordinates of WTT9, which I then found. Next I used the key at WTT9 to find the coordinates for WTT10, which I went on to find. I have not...
On a bright chilly day, Squashman and I continued our assault on Witchitai-To. Hike length was 3.8 miles.
