Eldorado Canyon Trail, Colorado State Parks

An easy hike, in a Colorado State Park.....Eldorado Canyon Trail.  Our goal to reach the Walker Ranch junction was cut short by distant thunder and lightning.  But we were rewarded with a trip to Agave Mexico Bistro & Tequila House in Boulder, and a stop at GoLite's warehouse sale.

Our plan was an out and back bushwhack.  What developed was a shuttle hike, courtesy of the local Search and Rescue (SAR) team!Thorodin Mountain's name is unusual, and locals tell the following stories regarding the origin of the name.  Years ago, the locals couldn't decide on the name of the Norse gods, Thor, and Odin.  So...Thorodin...combining both.  A better story is that the two summits of the mountain were called Thor and...

We had a really nice day in January and did an easy hike near home. Cody and Brooke had fun "looking for a treasure", imagining they were searching for lost gold and needed to find a big "X".

A great little hike that will only take a couple of hours and is enjoyable for the entire family.  This trail will take you to the now ruined Crags Hotel. Built in 1908, the hotel unexplainably burned to the ground in 1912.   There's not much left but it is worth the visist and you'll be left wondering how model-t's made it up to the hotel. If you continue on the trail to the...

These trails are all on City of Boulder open space  The views of the Flatirons are fantastic. .Trail surface is mostly smooth but with embedded (not loose) rocks that make for a rough ride some of the time. The trails are extremely well-marked and you really don't even need a GPS to follow them. There are trailheads on CO 170 and CO 128 where they intersect with US 93.I recommend doing this loop in...

Boulder has lots of great bike trails including the Boulder Creek Path that runs right through town. It also has lots of excellent mountain bike trails just a few miles out of town in every direction.
Two missing links they could add would be a bike trail connecting Boulder & Denver and a bike trail loop around Boulder. I know the Boulder/Denver bike trail is already in the works and they are making inroads toward a trail that runs along the eastern boundary of the town. With all of the open space available, they could/should be able to build off-road bike routes all around the town. More than anywhere else, "If they build it, bikers will come."
