Community Trips
We started from Route 9 near Bear Mtn Inn. Hike began with a short but steep climb along a river. We also Visited the remains of a mine. We had lunch at the top and enjoyed a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
A nice hike in the Harriman State Park Area. The trailhead area used to be a ski location, but i snow abandoned. The hike itself is nice in the woods to a nice mantain top of Black Mountain. Summary:A nice, short hike in Bear Mountian/Harriman State parks. (2 - 5 hrs depending on pace)Parking/Trailhead:Small parking area is a bit hidden off the road, but I swear it exists (took me a couple drive-by's to find it). Trail 1777 (white circle markers) passes through the parking lot.Hike Details:From parking lot, head E-SE on 1777 (white circle markers) for a short time, then make a right (south) onto AT (painted white rectangle)....
This loop hike follows portions of the never-completed Dunderberg Spiral Railway and passes several expansive viewpoints over the Hudson River.
