Awesome hike in some absolutely gorgeous country. My father and I started off with a boat rides from the Many Glacier Hotel across Swiftcurrent Lake. There is a fifth of a mile long paved trail connecting Swiftcurrent Lake from Lake Josephine. Once departing Morning Eagle, the fun old boat serving Lake Josephine, the trail heads to the North for a short ways before heading West and steadily ascending towards Upper Grinnell Lake.The...

A trip to the Rocky Mountains Montana in 2008 .  Drove as far as we could , the road is closed in winter so we walked the rest of the way up to  Logan Pass .Absolutely fell in love with the place , the photos do not do justice to the awe inspiring scenery . It is hard to get an idea of scale even when you are there , just look...

http://samh.net/backpacking/?do=showproduct&id=106During August of 2003, Mark, Matt and Sam got together for an excursion out and back to Cracker Lake in the Many Glacier district on the east side of Glacier National Park.Fed by meltwaters from an active glacier, Cracker Lake is filled with minute particles of rock, ground up by the glacier. These tiny particles, suspended in the water, reflect and refract light giving the lake its deep opalescent color. Once the scene of a mining boom in...
