Exploring Virgus Canyon, a side canyon of Aravaipa
This was our 3rd annual trip into Aravipa. We saw a couple of rattlesnakes, a pack of javelinas and other various critters. The weather was great and even though the stream was flowing lower than the previous yer, there were still swimming holes lage enough for a swim.
We started from the parking lot at the West end off Arivaipa Rd. The first quarter mile or so is an unremarkable trail put in by the Nature Convervancy which owns the land there until you get to the BLM land about a mile upstream from the trailhead. Day hike in Arivaipa Canyon. We hiked as far as Javelina Canyon and then turned around.
