My last day in Amsterdam. Sites include Rembrandt's house, the Rijksmuseum, Heineken Brewery, and the Anne Frank House.
We woke up on time this morning after our long flight from home the day before. Decided rather than strain the brain with art museums we'd take advantage of the nice weather and get a walk in the cool morning air.We stopped at a nice cheese shop near our apt and had a wonderful lunch of dutch cheese and beer.
My first full day in Amsterdam.
We had planned to see both the Anne Frank and the Van Gogh museums on Friday afternoon and evening. A short walk from our apt to the Anne Frank Museum. Very moving visit having read her diaries so many years ago. Evil is frightening. Van Gogh museum is wonderful. Perfect day to walk around and just see stuff. After the thunderstorm yesterday temps dropped to the low 20's (C). Very comfortable for walking and enjoying. We first went to the Saturday Market and got a few provisions for dinner tonight. Then we walked over to the Central Station to get some maps to replace those loaned to us by our hosts (we have destroyed them). FInally a boat cruise and some strolling...
Day two in Amsterdam with Sarah. Up super early cause of early bed the night before. Breakfast was mysteriously an hour late in the hotel, which was a little aggravating for my growling stomach, but it was fine. Tram to central station to figure out train to Paris. Hendrick de Keijser (1565-1621) Îs de belangrijkste architect uit de Hollandse renaissance. Zijn zonen Pieter en Willem bleven in de trant van hun vader werken.
