I enjoyed a week hiking the Bogong High Plains around Falls Creek and going to a few of the High Country Huts up there. Most have survived the bushfires the ones that did not have been rebuilt.This is a great part of Victoria. The Colonel

Although this ride eventually went into Myrtelford, the track only goes to Ovens, where it was expected I would settle into the pub for the morning. However, as this opened rather later that I would have wished, I had to go through to Myrtleford for that beer.

This track appears to lead from Mountain Creek Campground, over Mt Bogong to "nowhere". This walk was conducted as a overnight walk due to it being at least a 5 hour drive to get there. For the keen hikers it can be done in a day trip. The start point was the Gate to Cope Hut which is located on the Bogong High Plains Road approx. 11kms from Falls Creek, it's the next road on the left (coming from Falls Creek) after the Wallaces Hut Car Park....
Skiing Falls Creek...beautiful weather, excellent snow and first tracks at 8.30am. Finished at 1.00pm and headed back to Melbourne after a great weekend.
