This trail mixes lush grasses and California oaks with some of the mining history of Quicksilver. The trail starts off along the lush New Almaden Trail, then climbs up the Buena Vista Trail to two of the old mine processing facilities, then past Day Tunnel and back down to Mockingbird Hill lane via the Virl O. Norton Trail.
This is a nice picturesque loop that starts and ends at the McAbee entrance. You could do the same loop starting at the Guadalupe Dam entrance, too. A couple of steady climbs take you from one side of the hills to the other and back again. You\'ll see the occasional deer, and the ubiquitous turkey vultures flying around. There\'s plenty of shade along the way, so this is a year-round hike.
