Parked at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park5970 Palos Verdes Drive South Rancho Palos Verdes. Trailhead starts at the left of the picnic area when facing the ocean.  Trail was fairly easy with a couple of moderately tricky spots.

The scenery is always my favorite here. I also like the fact you can connect with Sacred Cove trails which is part of Abalone Cove Preserve, hiking down to the Abalone Cove tidepools then up the trails on the point, a short walk on Palos Verdes Drive and down into the next cove for a more challenging and longer hike. But use caution at Sacred Cove, this is part of Portuguese Bend, a very active landslide area, which we could see evidence of (pieces of the former road down on the bluffs) as we descended down a steep trail into Sacred Cove. Abalone Cove's main trail down to the beach and tidepools from Abalone Cove Shoreline Park is a good one for a family tidepooling hike but other trails I wouldn't recommend for kids. The park (near the parking lot) has great views of the sunset over the ocean and Catalina Island, plenty of picnic benches. I'd also recommend packing a dinner and enjoying the sunset view :)

This is a very nice scenic trail and area. this is a rock shore line beach. you will be able to hunt for shells and collect cool odd shape rocks. walk to the Tide pools and see starfish, sea urchins and hemet crabs. sometimes when the tide and tempature is just right youll find octopus too! :) you pay $5-$10 for parking its been awhile but thats for park up keep. lots of magnificent views.
