Pak Tam Chung to Pak Tam Au via Tai Cham Koi
by oldpinetree on Feb 06, 2010
Wong Keng Tei, Hong Kong
Hiking | 4.8 miles
6 February 2010 17 - 19 degree Celsius Relative humidity 90% Cloudy with light rain patches We parked our car at Pak Tam Chung before 8:30AM. There was only a handful of parking space left. We then walked along Man Yee Road to the its junction with Sai Wan Road. The hill path to Tai Cham Koi (大枕蓋) near M002 was largely "buried" in bushes. We took the next uphill path along the Sai Wan Road. The...

Short and steep around DB
by Baydiscoverer on Apr 05, 2010
Yi Pak, Hong Kong
Hiking | 1.3 miles
This is a short trip around DB. I made it after the work out in the gym did not seem to be enough exercise, and Easter Monday was still long ...Start opposite to Seabee Lane; there is a bus stop where nearly all the Northbound buses hold. From there, it's up the rather steep path, which has a lot of plastic and older wooden steps built in for convenience; many are rather...

Hiking | 3.8 miles

9 February 2011 Sunny and fine weather 18 - 24 degree Celsius Relative humidity 65 - 95% We took NLB no. 23 from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping and got off the bus when it had just turned into Sham Wat Road. Going back ~ 50 meters and the direction to Lantau trail will be seen. Take the steps beside the toilet to go up Kwun Yam Shan. The weather forecast in the morning...

Mui Wo - L1 - South Lantau Trail - Tong Fuk
by Baydiscoverer on Mar 20, 2011
Tung Wan Tau, Hong Kong
Hiking | 9.2 miles
Took the trip from Mui Wo following the charted L1 (Lantau Trail section one) to Nam Shan, and from there following the South Lantau Trail, ending up on the catchwater between Shui Hau and Pui O, and from there down to Tong Fuk, passing the correctional center there (which has a bus stop for No. 11 back to Tung Chung as well). It was a very wet and damp day with lots of...

The best of the rest of the west (of Lantau)
by Baydiscoverer on Apr 05, 2011
Tai O, Hong Kong
Hiking | 9.7 miles
This was a trip to connect the dots of the still missing parts of trails in Western Lantau, mainly on the Lower Keung Shan plateau. There are now only a fes steps uncovered in this area...One path I always had wanted to go up was the Sha Lo Cho, going up from Yi O Bay, starting from some houses - does anyone still live there? The patch soon joins the stream coming...

Shek Pik to Tung Chung Road via Keung Shan Trail, L4, and Tei Tung Tsai Trail
by Baydiscoverer on Apr 23, 2011
Hang Pui, Hong Kong
Hiking | 9.7 miles
Weather report had said, sunny day with few clouds; drizzle to light rain was the truth for the whole day, no chance to make any good pictures. After following the catchwater west, the Keung Shan Trail leads upwards in a very nice fashion, meandering through not too steep slopes. The Trail hits the closed section to Sham Wat Road - that looks quite intact again now, maybe they should re-open it ......

富安 - 石壟仔古村 - 烏溪沙
by CHK on Jul 03, 2011
Tai Shui Hang, Hong Kong
Hiking | 5.2 miles

Moon Trekker first attempt!
by rogermunday on Aug 20, 2011
Mui Wo, Hong Kong
Hiking | 13.7 miles
This was our first attempt at finding and following the Moon Trekker trail. After a few wrong turns we arrived at Pak Kang Au 19k's later, and on a day where again 34c and bright sunshine took it's toll - also not much water left - we turned away from Lantau Peak and headed down the road to the Stoep instead!Next week we will continue........

Lantau, Hong Kong
Hiking | 5.6 miles
I had hiked this before but reverse, which is pretty more difficult. Going upwards on the off the beaten track, partly gravel-y, is far easier. Couple of other routes around, which look bit more difficult, to try shortly.
