Trips
A very short walk at the beach of Okains Bay (Banks Peninsula).
Short visit of Allans Beach. Take care of the fur seals.
Short walk to the Nugget Point lighthouse. Watch out for fur seals!
We watched the sundown at Gillespies Beach. Beautiful views to Mt. Cook and the Southern Alps.
Gentle walk through the Craters of the Moon, near Taupo. It is a lot cheaper than the "Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland" (Rotorua), but of course less to see.
Today was the Viva Waitakere Festival 2011 at Henderson Park. My wife and I went along to enjoy the music and atmosphere. While we were there I walked around the park a few times, and also marked some temporary waypoints to show the layout of the event. This was a great way to practice my GPS skills, having only recently purchased my Garmin GPSmap 60 device. During one of my journeys today...
After our few days in and around Rotorua it was time to move on to the next part of our New Zealand holiday. So to South Island, the second and largest of New Zealand's three islands. Our home for the next few nights . . . Ocean View Chalets at Marahau. Full Pictures and report @http://www.loweswatercam.co.uk/111030_New_Zealand_5.htm
A morning walk along the Opau Loop Track of the Westwind Recreation Area at Makara, Wellington.
I took a 4 hour walk to take my DSLR for an outing along the Muriwai coastal rd. All these images are taken with iPhone :P
I normally only walk a couple of km's at a time, so I wanted to see if I could walk from my hotel into town. I'm really glad I did, because there was a lot of beautiful scenery and I felt really accomplished for doing it.It took me approximately 80 minutes, I walk at approx 6.5km/h
My map isn't entirely accurate as I couldn't get my GPS working, it's quite a hilly track, but definately an easy walk. We dawdled a lot as there was so much beautiful stuff to look at.Easily done in 30 minutes, allow more time for playing.
Just 10 minutes drive north of Wellington you find Cornish Street in Petone, which is at the corner of Belmont Regional Park.Entering into the park you follow the Korokoro stream for just over four kms to the Korokoro dam - the first dam constructed in New Zealand. The trial is pretty flat - the odd slope upwards. However it is a narrow path and at times quite high up, so your overall pace...
Short hike unloaded after bilateral knee injuries last week.. small pack approx 4kgs.. went with Phil.. Very windy on summit and windward side. was good knees improving..
A lovely hidden walk in the Ngaio Gorge. You enter Trelissick Park from Kaiwharawhara Road, and most of the time you are walking a path next to the stream. It's around a 2 km walk to Wightwick's Field, which is a nice place for a picnic, and then the same return so an easy 4 kms in total.Dogs are allowed off the leash so popular with dog owners. There's one reasonably steep hill you...
Started on Wadestown Road at the dog exercise area, as there is parking there. It's a pretty steep climb up the hill. You climb around 120 metres over a 500 meter walk, so that is a pretty tiring climb. As you go up you'll see four or five intersections, but ignore them as they will just take you back down. Keep going until you hit the actual Northern Walkway.Once you are up there,...
Would have been more comfortable walking if I had more proper footware than my jandals!
