I’ve got my PPL and the privileges of having it are that I can fly as
captain on a single engined aircraft and even take passengers. Despite
these privileges I still feel very much in learning mode. Today I am
flying from Blackbushe to Bembridge on the Isle of Wight and returning
later. I was determined to wait until some good weather was on the
horizon before booking an aircraft. This is...

Busy! Lots more visitors than last year. Lots more aircraft
flying in than last year. No Ryanair flights into F’hafen so many visitors flew

outbound procedures, went to several surrounding airfields in a 30 mile radius
taking advantage of well organised shuttle services to and from F’hafen.

Been wanting to visit Caernarfon ever since I gained my pilots licence and saw the weather was looking good so decided to finally go for it... and was I glad I did. The weather wasn't great on the way there but coming back it was blue skies all over Wales so I flew around Mount Snowdo a few times
First time in IMC (instrument meteorological conditions). Cloud base was around 3500 feet. The random tracks were the instructor calling out different headings to track using instruments alone - a bit wobbly but not too bad!

1 hour flight from Elstree EGTR around the Aylesbury/Westcott area in Grumman Tiger G-ERRY. Practiced some tight turns, recovery from spiral dives, Practice Forced Landings (PFLs) which explains the drop in altitude from 2,600 feet to 1,000. Couple of hot-air baloons about, few high-flying birds, conditions were smooth as silk. Got back the right side of sunset.
