This is a run down McPhail's Downhill, plus the return to Fitzroy falls via Meryla Pass.We did this as a casual ride with lots of breaks and photo stops. The downhill is fantastic. The uphill trip up the Meryla pass is extremely hard work, but satisfying.
Camping at "Ski Beach". Trail a mix of 4wd and cattle track. A few gates to jump and cows to chase! Please ignore the return track, I got lost, then broke my bike's rear derailer, and had to push :-( Tough but rewarding :-)
Nice area for cross-country trails. Plenty of mileage can be covered with a mix of double track, firetrail and some nice flowing singletrack and a variety of ways of creating loops in good bushland. Lack of decent downhill slopes combined with hardly any rock in the area means there is very little technical riding to be had. Generally I stay away from the urban fringe, rubbish dumped in places and more trailbikes....
