Day four was rainy so we decided to head home. Back up glissade pass we opted for the ridge route. While there was sometimes evidence of a trail, most of the route was scrambling over rocks. About half way across we decided to bail and head down the ridge to the trail.The next day we woke up to sunshine! Headed to Dawson to check out the scene. Cool town.
We had an easy day hiking to Talus Lake. We saw Grizzly that later walked through our campsite! Keep your food in the bear proof lockers and canisters! This is the area that is most photographed in Aug when the fall colours appear. There is no distinguished trail and you are actually told to spread out when walking in the area to minimize impact.
Day 2 hike from Grizzly Lake to Divide Lake. Up Glissade pass - 400m climbing in 1.1km. Then DOWN the other side! 320m descending in 900m! Then a nice hike to Divide Lake.It was not as hard as we thought it would be hike back up Glissade pass on the North Side. Tombstones Territorial Park is one of those special places in the Yukon that one must work for to get to and hike in. More then 100km from Dawson City, Yukon along the Dempster Highway it is well worth visiting. Established as a park in 2004 to protect this unique area and the traditional territory of the Tr'ondek Hwech'in.There are few services here, no cell phone coverage, 911 service or established trails.
Local riding in whitehorse on Grey mountain. Rode from Riverdale, up lower roller coaster to Upper Roller coaster to Grey Mountain Road. Climbed to the water towers short hike a bike along the ridge to Money Shot, Easy Money, Payback, SFD, Girlfriend , Juicy, Yukon River Trail, Rim Trail Hidden Lakes back to Riverdale. 38km 1200km climbing.
First half of trail; saw bear scars and with the sign "In Memory of Christine Ann Coutney, killed by a young male Grizzly", we turned back after a good view.
