This is the first 1.75 miles of knagg trail, we started to vear off trail. We'll have to try it again next time.
Parked at entrance to South Mountain Park located at 17 ave just North of Chandler Blvd. Proceeded up the Ruins trail to National Trail and headed East. Followed National Trail all the way to Hidden Valleys Eastern entrance. Passed through the natural tunnel and up through Hidden Valley to Fat Man Pass. Got back on National trail and hiked West to the Mines trail and back to my vehicle.
Walking distance from our house is Sunary Park. Christina, Zoe and I took a walk this morning and for the first time we climbed the little mountain in the park. From there we walked down a walking path that is located just off of our neighborhood and then returned home.

Columbus Day HikeZoe, Eric and I took a 2 mile hike up the Telegraph Trail on South Mountain which is located right near our house. It was a beautiful hike, windy and cool (85 degrees).
Just got here from Ohio, enjoying the warm weather.
It was a beautiful fall day with reds, oranges, yellows, and all sorts of combinations of colors in between. We thought it would be a quiet day with very few people by going on a Tuesday but it was packed. Lots of visitors and lots of people with cameras and tripods trying to get photos of the fall colors. It was a fun time with the family!
Wow!! We're from Ohio, not use to this vertical climbing. Besides that we're out of shape. Could give more excuses but I am too worn out.
The hike down provides you with some great photo opportunities that only seem to get better the further you go. At the bottom the springs seems to be all around us and the amount of water going over the dam was truly remarkable. Deer coming down to the water to eat and drink provided us with some great photos.
Start at the Aubineau Trailhead on the north side of the San Francisco Peaks, reached from Flagstaff via US 180 and Forest Roads 151 and 418. Hike the Aubineau Canyon Trail past the Bear Jaw Trail junction to Aubineau Canyon, then follow the old Aubineau Road east to the Bear Jaw Trail, then follow the Bear Jaw Trail back down to the Aubineay Trail and back to the trailhead. Length of the...
I wanted to hike to Hackberry Mesa (near Garden Valley) in the Superstition Wilderness, but the trailhead parking lot was full. I parked at the overflow lot and decided to see if I could find my way to Hackberry Mesa without walking back to the trailhead first. I set out across the desert and soon found a well-worn trail that took me to Garden Valley.
Bead's second hike thru sabino canyon
This was a hike that Ellen & I did in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, a conservation area in Scottsdale, AZ. on December 4, 2009. It was a moderate walk up to the viewing area at about 2500 feet. The trail is hardpacked, lots of cactus alongside along with some interesting rocks. Quite a bit different from the places we normally hike here in the East. Had lunch at the top and got...
