Needed to test out my new Garmin Montana 650 GPS so I took a quick hike in to Franklin Gulf County Park to place a new geocache and take some pictures along the hike.
Gladys Foster Preserve Trail is small part of the Narragansett Trail. The entrance to the trail can be found on Ryder Rd or Wyassup Lake Road depending upon which direction you chose. When entering the Ryder Road entrance you will follow blue blaze trail (Narragansett Trail). Hiking this trail you encounter a beaver pond and will soon cross a stream.Heading in a westerly direction is a fire road crossover trail that is un-blazed. The fire road will take you in...
A nice outing with Laura and Riley again this weekend. The rain was coming down at times, but we were relatively sheltered in the trees. Lots of caches have popped up on these trails since I last visited!

Geocaching Hike to get GC57 and we finally found it with Glamar and his kids
It was Cary Owl and Clubmud's last day in Sacramento, we were hoping for nice weather but it rained all morning. We did get to see the sun in the late afternoon. We went after the rest of the SNSpencer's Terrain Mini Challenge Series that we hadn't completed earlier on our trip, then tackled an old 5/5 that was quite rewarding. All in all we got 10 - 5 Stars including a...

bumanfam Dad and bumanfam Dog headed out to snag some FTFs on a cold, blustery, rainy/sleety/snowy day. Blizzard warnings took effect at 6:00 (our trip ended just after 7:00). Anyone who says Iowa has no hills has never been to the Loess Hills! We managed to get all four FTFs that were available today, and also three other caches. With all the rain, cold, and wind, we didn't watch very closely for other...
Taking bro-in-law out for a quick RoverCache experience.
Cary Owl and Clubmud planned this trip for months. Today we were able to sign the log. We had good weather and it was well worth the Challenge.
Pleasanton Ridge has expanded recently and we tried a new approach to the northern end and got many geocaches.

Sydney, Lindsay, and I headed out to explore this really unique cove. Most of the walls are sandstone. The falls are amazing and on the way out on the eastern wall we found about 15 Eastern Newts. There is a neat Earthcache at the bottom.
I had MLK day off, and wanted to go hiking ... but it was supposed to rain. A friend suggested Woods at Sierra Azul, as it's not muddy in the rain. I've always wanted to hike to Sombroso from Hicks, so sure ... sounds good.Rainy it was. Sheets. I learned later there were severe weather warnings out. But I have a rainsuit, and was actually comfortable and not too wet. The hike...

What a day we found our first cache atsometime around 7AM and cached until 5PM. After we found 102 we still had about 3 hours of daylight but we were bushed!! That's an inside joke if you know the fresgo's. About a week before us some folks...
