Fourth days walking on the NICS Ramblers Lake District Trip 2008.After a days rest and sightseeeing, which avoided the worst days weather we were back on the crags for the big one.Weather was not as kind as earlier in the week, very overcast, but at least it was dry.We headed out from Seathwaite farm and headed up the valley to Stockley Bridge, then followed Grains Gill upward to the base of Great...

NICS Ramblers saturday trip. Slieve Donard via Thomas Mountain, then on to Commedagh and descent to newcastle via Shan Slieve, Slievenamaddy and around Drinahilly.Beautiful weather, with clear skys, and views from Donard all the way to Belfast.
Evening after work ramble in the mournes.A pleasant walk up over Lukes Mountain (the strange loop at the top was a search for a lost mobile phone, which against all odds we actually found). From there, up over Slievenaglogh and a break for tea, then down the far side to the Trassey Track , following it back down the valley and round Clonachullion to the car park.Lovely weather and the long evening made for...

A nice trip around the Annalong valley starting from the Carrick Little carpark.Following the easy trail up the valley to Blue Lough, then on to the saddle for the long slog up Lamagan. Not the most pleasent weather, so the views from the top were pretty non existant. From there we crossed the summit and followed the trail down the far side to reach Cove, which we skirted over, then up and over Slieve Beg for...
This is a small part of the famous Cleveland
way at Ravens car. I walked this trail with my son and daughter while on vacation in the north Yorkshire coast. We found two caches on this trail
A test using the iPhone 3G application.A short walk around the edge of Mynydd Meio common. The walk begins with a short but sharp climb!Good views in all directions, Pen Y Fan, new Severn Bridge, the Garth, Steep Holm, Flat Holm, Dartmoor. iPhone camera not really suitable.Cows and sheep graze on the common, and hide in the bracken !
A second longer walk testing the iPhone 3G app.Once again the photographs highlight the poor nature of the iPhone camera.Pen Y Fan was clearly visible to the north as were Flat Holm, Steep Holm and Dartmoor to the south but are hardly visible in the photographs. The Iphone camera is fine for snaps of signs, gates, close ups but no use for taking panoramic views.Carry another camera!
Short walk in Fforest Fawr, north of Cardiff above Castell Coch.another test of iPhone Everytrail app. This is a wooded walk on the side of a steep valley. App worked all the way through the walk. Pretty impressive.
