Started at Marymoor Park, rode north along the Sammamish River Trail, then continued along the Burke-Gilman Trail to Kenmore. Came south down Juanita Drive into Kirkland (climbing Big Finn Hill - aptly named!), continued along Market and Lake Streets with nice views of Juanita Bay and Lake Washington, and finished the route along the SR-520 Trail (with nice views of the highway...) back up to Marymoor Park. Although it was the 4th...
Finally, the Big Red Weather Switch has been pulled in the Pacific Northwest and summer has returned. As if on cue, on July 5th our 10-day forecast magically switched from incessant clouds and rain to incessant sun. But I'm ok with that.
This ride traces a 60-mile loop around the shoreline of Lake Washington. It follows a mix of trails and city streets, and keeps to mostly residential but still very scenic areas....
My first 50 mile ride. Nice, easy pace. Bike ride around the bottom half of Lake Washington on a beautiful day. I met Doug by Husky Stadium and we rode down Lake Washington Blvd which was carless thanks to the city. My water holder broke so we stopped at GHY bikeshop, which stands for Go Huck Yourself, in Renton and picked up a new one. We stopped for food and drinks at the Roanoke Inn on Mercer Island.
This was a bike ride from Redmond, WA around Lake Sammamish. Going down on the east side there is a nice path, but you have to ride on the road coming up the west side. All in all good scenery, some really nice houses, and friendly folk. Enjoy!
For the Cascade Bicycle Club 2010 Chilly Hilly ride around Bainbridge Island, Washington, you couldn't ask for better weather on the last day of February: sunny to partly cloudy skies, low 50s by 11am (it'd ultimately climb to near 60 degrees) and the occasional breeze from the off the Sound. Started off at the Coleman Docks in Seattle and caught the 10:30 ferry over to Bainbridge Island (on the good ship MV Tacoma). Exiting...
We had an unexpected but absolutely gorgeous Sunday squeezed in between several days of rain this past week. The fact that it was a holiday (sort of) - Halloween - was especially surprising since it's usually guaranteed to rain on those here in Seattle. The day was perfect for a bike ride, as clouds weren't predicted to come into the picture until later in the afternoon.I started off at Marymoor Park and...
We were looking for a trip that was around 50 miles without too many hills, and this one fit the bill pretty well. It starts and ends on the Centennial Trail, but breaks off onto roads starting at 84th St NE (not far past Lake Cassidy) and circles back through Granite Falls to rejoin the trail at Machias.None of the roads had bike lanes (or even a wide shoulder), but for the...
Started at the trailhead on S. Machias Road after reading that more parking is available here. This was true - the parking lot was mostly empty - but I did see quite a few people just parking on the side of the street starting in Snohomish. Rode to the end and back, originally planning on picking up the extra few miles into Snohomish, but the last stretch from Lake Stevens through Machias is almost all...

Leisurely Sunday ride around Alki Beach in Seattle

It wasn’t the sunniest of days…though for early June it was pleasantly
dry. I got out on my commuter bike for a leisurely ride around downtown
Seattle, over the West Seattle Bridge to Alki, and back.
Today's ride meanders around the hills and neighborhoods of West Lake Sammamish and Northeast Bellevue, covering some rolling hilly terrain as it follows the streets above the lake. The hills on this ride are mostly moderate but there are a few steep but short climbs as you work up and down the ridge. The scenery is mostly residential and wooded, with several small parks to explore along the way. The nicest surprise was...
This ride made a circuit of the roads on Cougar Mountain, Squak Mountain and Mirrormont on the southwest shoulder of Tiger Mountain in Issaquah, Washington. Although it was mostly overcast at the beginning it turned into a nice day for a bike ride, with mostly sunny skies by the end of the day. This route features some reasonable climbs with really nice views of Lake Sammamish from the hilltops, and a stop...
The trail is now paved for 7 miles from Spokane to Marshall, and is very popular on weekends. The route is gated beyond, and will require a rail crossing for it to be finished and connected to Fish Lake. You can detour along the Cheney-Spokane Road to Fish Lake, and from there ride to Cheney and beyond. My Original Trail Description:A ride along the eastern section of the trail from Spokane to Fish...
A nice ride in northwest Seattle.Parking at Green lake (4 hour free), continue to U District, The old Gas Work Park, Locks, Golden Gardens park and back to the Green lake.Half of the ride is on Burke-Gilman Trail.
