Awsome day for a November hike. It must have hit at least 65 degrees. not much in the way of wildlife. Sat by a river an ate lunch. saw a boyscout troop or 2 hikeing through and collecting trash left behind by litter bugs. Might return in the Spring. Maybe the wildlife will return from being in the south all Winter
A great 5 mi hike through RI, CT, and MA. Very quiet. Start at the Buck Hill Wildlife Management Area Parking Lot on Buck Hill Rd in Pascoag, RI. It is just over the border from East Thomson, CT and easily accessible from Massachusetts. This loop takes you: * Along the CT-RI Border Trail* To the MA-CT-RI Tri-State Marker* Into the Douglas State Forest (MA)* To the beginning of the RI North-South Trail and MA...
This was a very nice scenic walk that turned into a tiring hike. The walk itself - on a cliff with a view of the ocean - was more interesting to me than the mansions, which we came to see. At some point, perhaps a mile after The Breakers, the paved path became a shore path and turned very rocky with sharp cliffs under your feet. Not many people were there, perhaps...
First hike of the year. Kinda cold for March!! But hey it IS still winter. 29 derees. Didn't really see much and not much to tell other than it's fun as always. Especially when you're hiking with family. Lots more to explore when I come back in summer.
The start of the Midstate Trail from the southern side. After hiking in from the closest lot about 1.5 miles out, we started our trek from Rhode Island to New Hampshire through Massachusetts. This is the first 16 miles, until the pavement got to us. We have been using the guide, but were unaware of how much road there was really going to be. After one of us ran into a lot...
This was a great hike, I loved all the little streams and changes in the types of forest. We met a few mountain bikers who were very polite and respectful of sharing the trail. I would imagine in the warmer months it is quiet a busy trail. We did it in under 3 hours because we had started at 2pm, but if you start earlier there are many places to stop and...
On
Tuesday July 7th 2009 Diane and I took a trip to the RI shore. We
started out with a 4 mile hike at Ninegret National Wildlife Refuge.
Ninigret is located at the former Charlestown Auxiliary Naval Air
Station. After the hike we went to Jerusalem and Jim's Dock where we
enjoyed a lobster roll. For my CT friends lobster rolls outside of CT
are lobster salad rolls in other words it is cold lobster and in this
case...
This is hidden gem in the middle of beautiful homes. Gentle rolling hills with an easy path to follow. There are several trails within this Land Trust and the Lookout next to Shore Rd is a beautiful view of the ocean.
