Kayaking / Canoeing | 5.9 miles
This is one of the nicest kayaking experiences in the Pine Barrens. Lightly traveled, this journey will take about 4 to 5 hours of moderate paddling. This can be challenging if there's been an extended dry period, particularly if you are canoeing. Takes half hour to ferry car from Hampton Furnace to Quaker Bridge depending numbers of kayaks or canoes.
With our sights on a beautiful Fall Weekend, we were able to fit Soccer in Saturday morning and then venture over to Round Valley State Park for a 3 Mile Canoe Trek over to the Wilderness Campistes on the otherside of the Reservoir. The Reservior offers 85 remote sites that are accessible by either Trail or Paddle and offer true peace and tranquility!
We pushed off around 3pm and made landfall a quick...
Trip takes about 2 hours, with maybe a stop on some beach along the way.
Kayaking Quakerbridge to Batsto Lake

Atsion, New Jersey, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 12.7 miles
Kayaking / Canoeing | 12.7 miles
We met at the Batsto Ranger Station. The ideal way to do this trip is to take 2 vehicles into the park. Travel down Quakerbridge road to the bridge & turn right before the bridge & head down to the lake. Leave 1 vehicle down at the lake & drive the boats back up to the bridge. Put in at the bridge & leave the 1 vehicle there. We kayaked down to the...
We were planning to do a Independence day trip down the Susquehanna w/ friends from Harrisburg to MD. That fell through & we were looking to still go out for a day trip & stay in the area. We took 2 cars & left one down at the lake. We took the other vehicle w/ the boats up to Weymouth Furnace to put the boats in. It was a 4-5 hour trip....
Morgan and Connor's first kayak trip

Rockwood, New Jersey, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 3.5 miles
Kayaking / Canoeing | 3.5 miles
Karla & I decided to go kayaking. Couldn't find a sitter so we decided to see if the kids were old enough to try kayaking. So we put 2 boats on top & the jolt in the van & just talked through the boat to each other...lol. Even though there were 4 of us Morgan was afraid of the water & decided she wanted to ride & not paddle. She cried for...
A short paddle around High Point state park to see some fall color in the trees.
Kayaking on the Hudson from Alpine Dock in Palisades Interstate Park. Very Peaceful.
Mullica River / Crowley's Landing
Crowleytown, New Jersey, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 7.5 miles
Kayaking / Canoeing | 7.5 miles
A summer's day paddle up the Mullica river from Crowley's landing. We went almost 4 miles before turning around and returning back to our starting location. The 1st mile of the river is wide and a you can see a power boat or 2 along the way. After a mile or so the river gets smaller and much more quiet. At "the forks" section of the river you can veer...
Columbia Lake / Paulinskill River
Warrington, New Jersey, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 3.9 miles
Kayaking / Canoeing | 3.9 miles
A morning paddle in Columbia Lake in Warren county NJ. Lots of lilly pads around the putin but a small channel is cut to get into the lake ok. There is a good size channel in middle to navigate fine around the lake. Route 80 is very close so you get a lot of noise from the highway in the southern half of the lake. There is a dam at the southern end of the...
Harrisville Pond / Oswego River
Harrisville, New Jersey, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 3.4 miles
Kayaking / Canoeing | 3.4 miles
We took our kayak to Harrisville Pond/Lake and paddled north into lower part of the Oswego river. The lake is about a mile or so from the launch site near the dam at the southern end. Stick to the left side going north since the lake is shallow in spots in the middle. The Oswego river enters the lake at the northest corner. There was a sandbar at...
Wading River / Beaver Branch
Charcoal Landing, New Jersey, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 4.5 miles
Kayaking / Canoeing | 4.5 miles
Today we took the Wading River in 2 sections from the Beaver Branch put-in.The first part of the trip was about a mile upstream. The current was mild in most sections but was a little bit tougher in a few of the river bends. Just above the Bodine camp area we hit a snag with some faster moving water being funneled through a narrow and shallow section of the river. At that...
A morning paddle on Batso lake north into the Basto river. We started out from the Batsto Lake Rd. launch area and headed south for a quick look at the Batsto historical village. We then then headed north for a mile or 2 toward the Batsto river. The lake was narrow and long with weeds and lilly pads but there was a clear channel that wandered it's way north. Toward the...
Molly and I out on the bay.
We paddled the Wallkill river national wildlife refuge in Wantage, NJ from the Bassetts Bridge launch at Rt 642. There is a long wooden boardwalk to get from the parking lot to the river so bring a canoe/kayak cart to wheel your boat to the launch site. We headed north (left from the launch) but we hit a pretty big clog in the river after only a half a mile. It...
A short morning paddle on a beautiful warm fall morning. We tried to see if we could make it up river where the Oswego river enters into the lake but the water level is pretty low from the long dry summer so we couldn't make it out of the lake this time of year. We paddled around and checked out the shore line and where the river exits downstream out of...
