Walked south from Rt 12. Narrow but well blazed trail with no fresh tracks (human tracks that is but plenty of Coyote, Fox, Rabbit and Bobcat). After a mile and a half the trail briefly merges onto an unplowed road then turns South to the Muddy pond shelter.

Loop from Bear's Den parking lot to Newton Reservoir and back. Good for snowshoeing.Trail was along old roads, mostly wet.My GPS shut off along Buckman Brook, but easy to follow road along Brook to reservoir.
I heard about this short loop hike from a co-worker, and thought it would be the perfect test for my new Atlas 1025 Snowshoes & my new Merrell winter boots. Despite the Nor'Easter we had on Wednesday, I was a bit dissapointed by how packed and frozen the snow was already. Several people had already been on the trail in the previous few days, so it was very packed and crunchy. I...
Great little 4 mile snowshoeing trip today. Did the bicentennial trail up to the harrington trail to the summit. Straight down the pine trail to the visitor center. Lots of snow made for a great time. The summit was a little dissapointing due to cell phone towers, but you could see the skyline of downtown Boston.
Beautiful sunny day, perfect for snowshoeing on the foot-plus of fresh snow received this week.Down Greenwoods road, where I learned Coke grows on trees, and over the snowbank past the last house, onto the untouched snow.Took my old mountain-biking loop that is just as disorienting on foot as it is on the bike; feels as though it loops north, but it loops south and comes out lower down on Falls Road.Back up...
Walk on a cold, windy day.
A quick snowshoe on a beautiful day. With my brother Jeremy & his wife Laura. My first snowshoe trip - fell a few times.

I planned this trip today not really know what was in store for me. Other than looking at the contour lines, I knew nothing. I have hiked most trails on Greylock prior to this, as I am a local. But with snowshoes and our recent snow storms, this was intense! I wouldnt advise this hike for someone who doesnt have a solid base fitness level. It is a long steep climb to...
While there are some real risks, I love snowshoeing on frozen ponds. You get to enjoy views that you can only see from a watercraft and in the winter the views are truly unique. Today, Squashman and I trekked across the pond from the south to nab a microcache from an island. Along the way we passed a couple dozen ice fisherman who were set up on the southern side of the...

Nice easy snow shoeing hike after the 3 days of snow!
After our hike along the trails into Pelham, NH, Jim and I snow shoed around the lake. Lots of ice fishing taking place and several snow mobiles and atv's. One snow mobile went through the ice close to shore but was pulled out pretty quickly.
Today we snow shoed around the lake first, then hiked the ski hill before took the trails. Beautiful day, sunny and bright. We saw lots of deer and turkey tracks.
