First half of trip, other half was on Flagstaff Lake.Lenght of trip is not 35.4 miles it was 52 miles track line was over Appalachian Trail and cutoff on to Bigelow Range Trail in to Statton.
Hike with Larry Hills from Stratton Village across Cranberry Peak to Horn Pond for the night. I had forgotten my tent poles, but improvised with hiking poles adn all went well. The next morning we hiked back to Rt 27 via the Appalachian Trail and got a ride back to Larry's truck. Nice views from Cranberry Peak.
We hiked up to South Crocker Mountain from Caribou Valley Road along the Appalachian Trail. Beautiful sunny day. Brought our best dog Puppers (trail name Alpo) ...at 11 years old she is such a trooper and bagged her first 4000 footer. We camped at the summit of South Crocker the first night, and then descended to Crocker Cirque campsite the next day. Our second night was rainy, but we liked the campsite....
