We kayaked the North Shore Channel of the Chicago River system.  We put in at the Skokie boat launch at Oakton and McCormick Blvd, paddled upto Green Bay Road and back.This span of water crosses forest preserve and parkland areas and for its full length is surrounded by trees -- a very beautiful quiet space in the middle of the city.Along the way we saw:  Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, Turtles, Sea...

For the second time in 7 days, we are kayaking at the North Shore Channel of the Chicago River.  We started at the Skokie boat launch, paddled upstream to the locks at Wilmette Harbour, then back.This length of water way is surrounded by forest preserve, city parks, and golf courses.
