This is a compiled set of GPX files, created by tracing the entire metacomet trail from the Connecticut Parks & Forrest Walk book. All maps were scanned, fed to the program "MyGPS 2.6", calibrated, and drawn as a route, exported data, converted to track data, re-imported, then exported as GPX format. (Then re-saved via Easy-GPS, to fix a quirk with the GPX file.) You'll notice that some of the tracks are either...
I needed some time away and decided that visiting two new states sounded like a splendid idea. I'd never been to either Connecticut or Rhode Island before and both were within easy driving distance so the decision was made. I researched the railways there, packed my cameras, and Sam and I set off for a little sight seeing.
A nice morning hike with my brother B.K and hist bulldog Toby and my dog Mally. It was sunny and cold (24 degrees) but we warmed up quickly. There was a lot of nice and I managed to land on my butt more than once. Luckily nothing serious but me falling on ice is not a graceful ting to watch.

22 Pathfinders showed up to do some much needed trail clean up at the Thomaston Dam. We had six teams which mostly comprised of one chain saw operator with two debris cleaners. Cut ground material was removed from the trail and placed into piles along the road or off the trail system. We also had two riders survey the entire trail system and mark areas that were impassable. Those little boxes/balloons you see...
Only geeks like Squashman and me get excited about looking for tri-state markers and geocaches. After a couple minutes trying to figure out where to park we found an ATV trail that loon led to an old railbed and that was the ticket. How often can you stand in three states at once?! In case you are wondering we're talking about Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
