The "Gemstones" is the local name given to a monolith of granite on Lumpy Ridge, in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), with 3 distinct domes or summits....West, Middle, and East. The "Gemstones" get their name from the USGS Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) given to Gem Lake in 1932, situated between two of the domes. Maybe some day the "Gemstones" will be approved in the National Dataset. I had the honor of climbing...
This trail is a steep uphill climb that connects with Mill Creek and
Bill Moore Lake. It's longer and a more difficult way to get to Bill
Moore Lake than the usual way from Empire. It should not be run
downhill in the opposite direction because it is nearly impossible to
pass anyone in some places and uphill traffic will have the
right-of-way.
The trail begins as a right turn immediately...
Spent a beautiful spring day doing some sport routes at The Monestary with Carey, Sarah (with dog Mico) and Chad(with dogs Dog and Pabst). Carey led the first climb up Pandora's Pebble Pinching Party Palace 5.7. From there we were able to top rope Table Wine 5.7, and Brasserie 5.12a. A good time was had by all!
Me and 12 others went snow bashing to twin cone. 40 miles outside of Denver. Great day. Lots of snow.
