Trips
Met our best friends here and hiked this picturesque Go John Trail in Cave Creek area. Great trail, great scenery and it was a perfect day.
Cave Creek Park NE of Phoenix, AZ
This is the "Up" portion of my hike to Skull Mesa. I was so tired after getting there, I shut the GPS log off. Notice the 1 mile detour cause we missed a turn off. Oops~
Loop 4.2 mile hike in the Spur Cross area. Started from Jewel of the Creek natural preserve to Dragon Fly trail to Tortuga trail to Spur Cross trail to Spur Cross parking lot. Indian petroglyphs along trail. Only year around free flowing water in Maricopa county, Arizona. Massive cottonwood trees along creek. Beautiful desert and saguaro cactus views. Jan and Leta Soza with Joe and Dianne Leis.
This was our first time doing Elephant Mountain. We got a little lost or side tracked, but we climbed the mountain and made it back just fine.IMO the trail markers at Spur Cross are not very good and mostly rely on hiker made rock markets. It still makes for a fun adventure/hike.
A friend and I decided to try a hike called the Black Mesa hike. We got off to a great start finding the markers people had left, but once we found that feed trough and water spout everything took a turn for the worse. (Our fault) We thought that if we had climbed up a certain area we were see where to go, but we kept climbing till we reach the side...
Trail starts 0.4 miles up Schoolhouse.
0.8 miles clearing, trail splits, go left even though steep.
