Table Mesa Trailhead to Tip Top
by Ten8shus on Mar 24, 2012
Table Mesa, Arizona, United States
Horseback Riding | 21 miles
My friend and I wanted to find the town of Gillette and the Tip Top mining community that we had read about. Gillette and Tip Top are linked together as mill and mine. The ore was mined at Tip Top and then shiped by wagon to Gillette for processing until a mill was erected at Tip Top in 1886. Gillette was also a stop over for the stage coach to Prescott.   The Tip...

My riding partner and I wanted to take a "shake down" pack trip on the horses to test out our horses' physical ability and comfort in packing in order to make sure everything was ready for our longer pack trip later this year. We did a point to point ride; dropped off at Bronco Trailhead and packing south and west to the Cottonwood trail and eventually to Spur Cross Trail Head where...

Horseback Riding | 6.7 miles
Some friends and I loaded up our ponies and trusty trail dog, Keko for a nice ride in the Tonto National Forest near Gold Field. We went to the end of Hackamore road in Apache Junction and rode the trails west of the Superstitions and the south side of Bull Dog mountains. A nice trailhead there opens up to Tonto National Forest. The road can be bumpy heading in but just take...

Disclaimer - This is an "E" Ticket Ride! "E"xperienced "E"quine and "E"questrians only! This is an amazing and absolutely spectacular ride. The geological formations are indescribable and the views will remind you how beautiful the world is. The Forest Service has done an excellent job of working hard to repair the damage done by the Willow Fire in 2004. The work done to clear deadfall and repair trails is to be commended. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"...

Graced with amazing weather for one more weekend, and not wanting to waste it, two of my adventurous friends, on their two mules and me on my Tennessee Walking Horse wanted to take advantage and explore more of the Black Canyon Trail.
