Trips
This was an exploration of Farley heath and Blackheath. I planned a route but when I got there I wandered off the route where it looked interesting. A really good walk. Photos were from my Canon A3100IS and my HTC desire phone.
Time to do some of the North Downs Way. One of the best walks I have done recently. The North Downs way was good alternating woodland and open downland and the pill boxes added some historical interest to the section. The theme of the return part of the walk was woodland. First old woodland (I would guess some of the oaks were 50 - 100 years old) followed by a beech wood,...
Day 7 of the Greensand way walk (sort of). I didn't want to walk the whole day 7 (Nutfield to Oxted Mill) so I walked the last part as a circular walk in the other direction as there is nowhere to park at Oxted mill. The walk is a combination of my Greensand way walks 33 and 34. (All photos taken on this walk.)
A nice walk from Godstone. The path goes through Godstone farm and through the strangly named Enterdent woods. It joins the GW and crosses a stream before climbing to the Godstone bypass. It then crosses the fields to Tandridge with views to the south. The return route is up Jackass Lane an back along a muddy path, some lanes and a field before reaching Godstone. (Photos taken after the walk)
A walk I had been planning to do, then I discovered my Ramblers group were walking it, so I had the pleasure of the walk and the company of fellow walkers.
Blackheath, Chilworth and Albury - Tillingbourne walk 6

Chilworth, Surrey, United Kingdom
Walking | 5.3 miles

One of my 'walks along the Tillingbourne valley'. This is an excellent walk. It starts on Blackheath, goes down to Chilworth and the Gunpowder mills on the Tillingbourne, then continues along the river to Albury. From there it climbs towards Blackheath via a valley with bullrushes. Finally it returns to Blackheath.
I went for a wander around Leith Hill, looking for interesting paths for a Ramblers walk. Discovered some really nice tracks. Weather was bright but breezy.
A walk 'from my youth'. All I can say is that the hill has got higher and steeper in the intervening years!. Highlights are reaching the summit (of course) at Gibbet hill as well as the base of the 'Temple of the Four winds' which was actually a derelict temple in my youth. Overall a good alternative to the Haslemere to Hindhead walk. (Photos mainly taken on the walk, with some at...
A walk with the Ramblers in an area I had not walked before.
Got the bus to Leatherhead and walked back to the station to start following the directions: they said to walk the way I'd come, and further. This is another "well sign-posted" route whose signs are obscure and easy to miss. That said, I really shouldn't have gone uphill when given the choice, since I knew I was on a walk that was meant to roughly follow a river. In Subway I had a footlong...
A favourite walk. The outbound section along the GW passes through some lovely woodland.A modest climb up and then the route returns along an old drove trail. I used this a the basis to lead my first Ramblers walk. For this we extended the return to Leith Hill. (Photos added after the walk)
An interesting walk. The first section is walked in both directions but is worth it. Much of the walk is along the bottom of the Greensand ridge with good views and interesting scenery. (Photos taken after the original walk)
A good walk. The first section is along the road and then over a picturesque golf course to Tandridge. The walk then follows the GW along a pleasant path to Broadstone green. Then a short section of road and the across the fields to Oxted Mill. The walk then leaves the GW to return to the start. (Photos taken after the walk)
Parts 1 and 2 of a series of 6 walks I have put together along the Tilling Bourne river. The source of the Tilling Bourne is near the top of Leith hill. This walk is a combination of walk 1 (from the source to Broadmoor) and walk 2 (from Broadmoor to Wotton).I walked down the unnamed stream to Wotton, back up the Tilling Bourne to it's source, then back to Friday Street....
Oxted Mill to Surrey Border (Ramblers 75th anniversary walk)

Limpsfield, Surrey, United Kingdom
Walking | 7.9 miles

Day 8 of the Ramblers walk of the Greensand way in Surrey. We walked from Oxted Station to Oxted mill where the last section starts. Then through Limpsfield Common and Limpsfield Chart to to Kent border. Finally we walked back to the station. The weather was windy and threatened rain but that held off until the evening. (All photos taken on this walk)
Thought I would re-walk the section of the Greensand way between Brockham and Betchworth in the summer. Did a slightly longer route that the first time. Met some friendly cows, saw quite a few WW II pillboxes (The river Mole was one of the defensive lines in case of invasion). The Greensand way had been improved with a gravel path where it was previously a muddy field. A nice short walk.
Another evening walk. The village of Bletchingley is a pretty one.and the western section of the walk passes the site of a ruined castle with some good views. (Some photos from a later walk)
An interesting walk. I planned it to include some of the GW spur through Oxted as well as the main GW path. Starting on Limpsfield common the GW goes through the woods to the road then down a private road. It then disappears down a poorly signed path to Oxted mill. I then took the GW spur into Oxted along the main street and under the railway eventually looping back through an...
An interesting section. In order to make it a circular walk I had to 'return' via Milford/Witley common and the north/south sections are not that interesting. On the other hand Milford and Witley commons were worth it. (Some photos were taken Aug 2010)
A good walk, over a mainly flat section of the GW. I added the hill climb at the north eastern section on the day as I felt in the mood for a climb. It was interesting to see the disused canal and railway track and I walked on the track path on my Bramley walk. (Most photos were taken on this walk or a connecting one, some were added later)
