Trips
Regular route I do that includes route 92 cycle path, Langate quarry, Brown Wardle Hill and Healey Dell. Here's some alternative routeshttp://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1053887http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=875116
Started in Whitworth. The path from Burnley road to Holme Chapel is mainly down hill but very muddy in parts. Crown Point road is longer than it looks and very steep.
Quick Pedal around Beacon Fell Country Park. Starting at the Bowland visitor centre (car park) and around the "blue" trail which allows mountain bikes, horses etc.
Not the most thrilling off road trail and very short, but good to blow the cobwebs away. Quite hilly so some good climbs and decents.

Brown Wardle, Watergrove Reservoir and round Higher Slack Brook
This is Middle Hill right next to Brown Wardle in Whitworth. As you can see there's a stone quarry on top. Looks like it's still in use.

Burnely road to Clough Bottom, then Waterfoot to Lee quarry and back to Whitworth via Cowm quarry
Set off in Whitworth didn't start tracking until Newline. Very steep climb from Waterfoot to the track overlooking Cowpe Reservoir, saw a few people coming the other way – wonder why?
Whitworth to Rawtenstall and Sandbeds Lane
Whitworth, Lancashire, United Kingdom
Mountain biking | 16.5 miles
Mountain biking | 16.5 miles
Plotted this route on Google Earth then decided to try it out for real. Got slightly lost on Sandbeds Lane had to backtrack. This is all uphill until you get to Rooley Moor, some of it very steep. Very cold day but managed to take some good sunset pictures. I stopped a lot on this route so 3 hours is not a good guide.
Started in whitworth, up through Prickshaw to Rooley Moor Road. Went round the back of Greenbooth Reservoir to get to Edenfield road. Not sure whether there's a better route than this. Parts of this route you'll have to get off and push.
Day off work quick run around
Wanted to see whether I could take Limers Gate off Todmorden road to get back to Whitworth. It's a bit boggy on the tops but 80% rideable.
Whitworth and Holme Chapel circular

Watergrove to Hollingworth Lake circular
Whitworth, Lancashire, United Kingdom
Mountain biking | 12.8 miles
Mountain biking | 12.8 miles
Cycled from Whitworth to the start at Watergrove, but you could drive to the car park at Watergrove if you wanted. 85% of this route is off-road but the terrain is mostly firm making it a good all year round ride. Very little of this trail is flat, but it's all ridable and the uphill sections aren't too steep. No private land on the route and surprisingly not that many gates. Now...
Thought I'd see if you could cycle through the wooded area above Cornholme. Took the path which branches off Flower Scar road but it comes to a gate with "No Access" written on. There doesn't seem to be any other obvious track to the forrest, but if you managed to find one It's a very steep drop into Cornholme.
