Today I decided to leave my Mountain bike in the shed and ride my 15hh Conamara mare "Missy" for a quick spin round the block. She loves to go out for a hack, I just use a rope halter, she doesn't need a bridle and often I ride her without any halter just a lead rope around her neck, yes I get many looks of disbelief. Saddleworth is a great place to horseride, lots of...
Day two Lake District Heavyhorse Tour 2009
Corney, England, United Kingdom
Horseback Riding | 14.1 miles
Horseback Riding | 14.1 miles
Alice and I took Cocoa and Moose for a hack this morning. Moose was a bit strong, he just wanted to go! The route is split roughly 3:2 road and bridleway. There is a great piece of byway at the point where we stopped and turned around, but we gave this a miss on the day as the Hunt were nearby and we didn't want the ponies to get over-excited. One for...
Jill/Lyla, Maria/Silver, Ali/Bella, Teri/Gretchen and me and Beneditto went for a great ride in Thetford Chase forest. We had perfect weather-blue sky and sunshine :) Afterwards we had a yummy pic nic lunch. A great day!
We did this ride mainly in walk due to one of the horses coming back into work. However there were plenty of opportunities to have a good canter either on the flat or uphill. Great views over Chichester/Bognor (on a fine day). Downside - there were quite a few tricky gates to get through.
Great hack with some stunning views over the West Sussex countryside. Started at Chilgrove then Kingley Vale, West Dean, Trundle Goodwood, Selsey Arms
Chilgrove, England, United Kingdom

Horseback Riding | 9.5 miles
A fantastic ride over beautiful countryside mostly on bridle ways. Horses need to be relatively fit as there are a lot of hills to contend with. Some good canter spots. Shame it rain heavily over night as some of the tracks were very wet and slippy. Selsey Arms stands on the busy A286 however; it does have a large car park which was very quiet. Served good food.
A great ride through forestry commission. Undulating, well sign posted bridle paths with stunning views and plenty of spots for a gallop.
Carriage Driving in the New Forest
Norleywood, England, United Kingdom
Horseback Riding | 11.9 miles
Horseback Riding | 11.9 miles
We spent a week carriage driving in the New Forest. We stayed at a small cottage with a couple of stables and a paddock for the Dartmoor ponies. This trip took us through some lovely woods and across a small stream.
Another brilliant hack with some amazing views. Undulating with plenty of spots for a long gallop. The Barley Mow Pub carpark can get very busy but we have always found a quiet spot at the back. Beer and food is good but service was poor.
Spring Morning Carriage Drive with Annie
Pusey, England, United Kingdom
Horseback Riding | 4.3 miles
Horseback Riding | 4.3 miles
It has been a while since we have driven Annie. Most of winter has been long reining to get her used to voice commands - walk, trot, stand. So today was a little bit of a test for her. Not too bad - very spooked by Harley Davidson motorcycle - but finished well.
A training day with Annie in beautiful sunshine through the very pretty village of Hatfield.
Another awesome ride thanx Shaun, Becky, Paige, Veronica and of course the gee-gees x
Forgot to stop every trail when we finished. Our actual time was 3hrs 1 min and average speed 10.9 kmph. It was a fab ride the ground was the best yet and fast going. Not many hills either x
