Mount Adams will be a fantastic backdrop if the weather is favorable. There and back on the same trail with a trip distance of 8.5 miles with a total hiking time of about 3 time.

Rolling Thunder is the annual mountain bike epic that my buddies and I try to schedule each year, and this year it took us to The Palisades Trail off of Highway 410 between Greenwater and Mount Rainier.  One of our participants was not riding and he graciously offered to shuttle us from our starting point at the Skookum Flats Trailhead near Bear Creek up to the Noble Knob Trailhead at Corral Pass....more

Memorial Day Camping trip with the South Sound Area Kayakers. We shared the island with a million other people including 30 fairly well-behaved sea scouts. There is acutally three trips here. 2.2 miles out to the island from Southworth, 4.4 around the island later that day, and 4.2 on the way home. Good luck seeing any of that in the track since they overlap quite a bit.

After hiking and biking the Tower Mountain, Krell Hill, Big Rock and Iller Creek drainage areas, we felt it was time to try to link together the various trails that we had been on. This particular route is potentially ridable the entire way, not that any of us actually had enough gas in the tank to knock off the steeper sections in their entirety. 1800 vertical feet is a lot on a...more

Steve and I were supposed to meet Tim up at Camp Muir, but apparently something came up and he had to leave before we got there. So instead of chancing a 2-man summit attempt, we just headed up to Camp Muir, spent the night, and came back the next day.

What a busy day! I flew to the east coast for a week to visit Boston, New York, and now (finally) Washington D.C.  I started my first full day with a trip to the National Air and Space musuem (which I vaguely remember from my previous D.C trip which must have been over 10 years ago).  We were a bit rushed so we saw the highlights: the Wright Brothers' Plane and some...more

I got out on a beautiful (if hot) day today and enjoyed a nice 20-mile journey through the Marckworth State Forest near Duvall.  Geocaching was the primary reason for deiciding on this ride today and I was able to find 5 relatively difficult caches along the way.  A highlight of the ride was a trip up to Drunken Charlie Lake.

Didn't make it all the way to Muir.  I've been slacking on my workouts, so I was moving slowly and there was a nasty bit of weather coming in.  Of course, by the time I descended to 6K', the skies were clear.

The second annual fall excursion from Denny Creek to Alpental. A Dawn Patrol event that included Kyle and John Gillmore and his son Ethan. We met at Target at 4:30 am. We dropped a car off at Alpental, and then drove down the back road to the Denny Creek parking lot. Up the trail in the dark with headlamps on, the sky began to lighten around 6:15 or so. We hiked in...more
