One of the most feared climbs in professional cycle racing. The first five kilometres of the climb have an average gradient of 7.6%a stiff however the last half of the climb is far more severe. From the six-kilometre mark to the summit, the average gradient is 13.1%. The steepest part, which has a 23.6% slope, is known as Cuea les Cabres and is located about 3 kilometres from the summit. The climb...
Zur Belohnung last not least eine super Abfahrt ins Tal.
The good news is that this route only appears once in the typical weeks itinerary! A punishing headwind from the start makes this a difficult push out as far as Cruz de Sardinia, where thankfully you turn inland and begin the 1st climb of the day up to 325m at Aguimes. A washboard country road with buffetting winds all the way up to Santa Lucia, through endless switchbacks make this a test...

Last ride of the Mallorca trip. Team Rotterdam & Sipke cycled up to the Formentor and had cake & coke. On the way back we climed up to another little tower with excellent view on the isla de Mallorca and this 5 star hotel.

This is the longer version of the normal Pico route, coming in just over 105kms or 65 miles. Add to that nearly 3000m of climbing, then you start to take notice. That 7000ft for the old skool boys. One of the pleasures too on the eastward descent is that you'll be going down the steepest descent, well it's 23% in most places going down. You'll wonder too if your brake pads are up...
The VOTT Lite is the bitchy little sister of the VOTT. She takes you up the same way past St Nicholls and just before the fun starts, she shows the way down a horrible hole and then up a long long long way with a typical 12/13% all the way to Artenara. Not as bad but she just spreads the pain around a bit. Then when it's over you have the long way...
