Trips
A short morning bike ride that got interesting when the road ended and the scrub started..
As I type this, it's nearly 4 weeks since the trip. My legs are completely recovered, my mind is mending, but my fingertips are still partially numb. It will be a long time before we let Kev pick the trip again. We (Kev, Jon, and I) left Sandaga just before noon after a morning of ceremony welcoming the Koreans to the village. The first few kilometers were nice and easy on the red...
My sailing voyage to the West-African coast started on August 2nd 2012. I expected to experience some
fantastic sailing locations in France, Spain, Portugal, Morroco, Canaries,
Mauritania, Gambia and Senegal! Today I reached the Algarve (southern Portugal) which means I'm almost halfway. Follow me on my blog: http://www.puresailing.be/blog
Sine Saloum
Het
is tijd om naar de Sine Saloum te gaan. Onze vakantie begint te korten

The hotel where the conference was being held had a special deal on camel rides, so Asaph and I decided to give it a go. I enjoyed it, but ... (butt) it hurt! Adam and Josef and Lukas were all bouncing along with us and I think we were all thankful that it wasn't longer than it was. Amazing animals they are.
Our second trip started in Velingara (after a short midday cycle by Erik to get to Kev's place) with a bush taxi ride to Manda Doune. The taxi was slow leaving and slow going, could've beat it by biking. When we got to MD, the taxi decided that it wasn't going any farther. We decided to get part of our money back and bike to Gouloumbou on the beautiful new road.Got a...
We had a wonderful relzxing day at the top of this cliff above the Gambia river. When it was time to depart, the four of us and the white truck decided to utilize the GPS and try to make the straightest and shortest trip home. It also turned out to be quite nice and fast. And all dirt roads.
